Liebe Leser,

Dies ist ein besonderes Heft. Denn es ist die 300. Ausgabe des Hamburger Rundbriefs. Damit haben wir, Frank Huismann und Stephan Berke, insgesamt 38. Ausgaben seit 2016 auf den Weg gebracht. Aus Anlass dieses Jubiläums haben wir lange überlegt, was wir in dieser Ausgabe bringen könnten.

Und das ist das Ergebnis unserer Überlegungen: Horst Glaser stellt in einem langen Beitrag das Schicksal des australischen Kreuzers HMAS Canberra dar und stellt die entsprechenden Modelle aus dem Haus „Olivers Welt der Schiffsminiaturen“ vor. Den Beginn des modernen Kreuzfahrttourismus durch Albert Ballin schildert Frank Huismann. Sieht man die heutigen gigantischen Schiffe, muss man sagen: „Alles hat klein angefangen“. Es folgt ein Preisausschreiben anlässlich der Jubiläumsaugabe. Allzu schwer dürften die Fragen im Ausschreiben für einen Schiffsenthusiasten nicht sein. Wir hoffen auf eine rege Teilnahme und auf mindestens drei Gewinner am Ende. Der bewährte Michael Brinkmann stellt uns dann die „Urd“ und „Ask“ sowohl im Original als auch im Modell von Friendship vor. Nach langem Hin und Her ist es uns gelungen, einen Anbieter zu finden, mit dem wir unsere geplante Leserreise nach Südengland veranstalten können. Das Echo auf unsere Anzeige war groß und wir hoffen auf noch acht Personen, die mitfahren wollen. An die Vorstellung der Leserreise schließt sich unser Neuheitendienst an. Diesmal mit weniger Bildern und unter Auslassung der Neuheiten von Shapeways. Grund dafür ist ein einfacher: Das Heft ist voll.

Randvoll und wir hoffen, dass den Lesern diese Ausgabe gefällt. Als nächstes größeres Vorhaben planen wir eine neue Website. Wir haben also noch viel vor.

Aber erst einmal wünschen wir viel Spaß und Vergnügen beim Lesen dieses Heftes.

Dear readers,

This is a special issue. Because it is the 300th issue of the Hamburg newsletter. This means that we, Frank Huismann and Stephan Berke, have published a total of 38 issues since 2016. To mark this anniversary, we thought long and hard about what we could include in this issue.

And this is the result of our deliberations: Horst Glaser presents the fate of the Australian cruiser HMAS Canberra in a long article and introduces the corresponding models from the house of "Oliver's World of Ship Miniatures". Frank Huismann describes the beginning of modern cruise tourism with Albert Ballin. Looking at today's gigantic ships, one has to say: "Everything started small". This is followed by a competition to mark the anniversary edition. The questions in the competition should not be too difficult for a ship enthusiast. We hope for lively participation and at least three winners at the end. The reliable Michael Brinkmann will then introduce us to the "Urd" and "Ask" in both the original and the Friendship model. After much toing and froing, we managed to find a provider with whom we could organise our planned readers' trip to the south of England. The response to our advert was great and we are hoping for eight more people who would like to join us. The presentation of the readers' trip is followed by our news service. This time with fewer pictures and omitting the new products from Shapeways. The reason for this is simple: the magazine is full.

Full to the brim and we hope that readers will enjoy this issue. The next major project we are planning is a new website. So we still have a lot planned.
